Father of twins catches them off guard after serving overseas for 10 months

Due to their father’s 10-month deployment to Kuwait, Maria and Micaela missed having him drop them off for school. Nevertheless, he made a special trip to Columbia for one of the biggest games of the season.

The surprise visit was orchestrated with the cooperation of the whole campus community. The coach talked the twins into recognizing their dad as the “Veterans United Hero of the Day” during the game.

Micaela stated, “We were cheering at the Mizzou basketball game, and we simply were informed that we were supposed to go and represent our dad out for the Veterans United Hero of the Day, and we were no clue that he was going to be there.”

A hand reached out and grabbed Micaela as she was celebrating with the other females on the floor. Micaela said, “I felt someone grasping upon me suddenly.” At first, I was confused and thought, “Who is grabbing me?” As soon as I turned around, I knew it was him.

So much is given up by our military for our country. When you send off your daughters at college, for example, you give up valuable time with the family that you love. Fortunately, Captain Kody Kermerling returned home safely for a surprise visit that was applauded by everyone in the stadium.
