‘The size of a cat’: Townspeople complain about the huge rats that came to them

In the south west Wales (UK) residents of the coastal town of Tenby are harassed by giant rats the size of domestic cats. This is what the Daily Mail is reporting.

Locals report rodents damaged the cliffs along the picturesque coastline with their structures.

Roger Miles, a local boat operator, said the problem has escalated in recent months.

“Early evening, dusk and early morning, rats are everywhere,” the man complained.

Tenby residents primarily fear that digging their caves is destroying some of the cliffs on Castle Hill, which are already damaged by erosion.

Mayor Sam Skirm-Blackhall said he will take action and City Hall will set up dozens of bait boxes to kill the rodents. The residents, however, do not believe that the problem can be solved this way.

If rats reach sexual maturity four or five weeks after birth, a population of two animals can grow to a whopping 1,250 within one year.

“We can’t kill them faster than they can reproduce,” a resident said in a comment to the media.
